41 Negara Bagian AS Kehilangan Pekerjaan Dua Kali Lipat

(New York) – Sebanyak 41 negara bagian Amerika Serikat menderita pemutusan hubungan kerja bulanan lebih dari dua kali lipat pada bulan September, dengan Michigan mengalami kehilangan jumlah pekerjaan terbesar. Demikian menurut laporan pemerintah yang dirilis Rabu (22/10).

Pekerjaan sektor swasta dan pemerintah jatuh di 41 negara bagian dan District of Columbia bulan lalu, kata Departemen Tenaga Kerja. Sebagai perbandingan, hanya 18 negara bagian yang melaporkan kehilangan pekerjaan bulanan pada Agustus.

Kehilangan pekerjaan yang meluas merupakan tanda resesi, ujar Bob Brusca, ahli ekonomi pada Fact and Opinion Economics di New York. “Jumlah yang diumumkan menggarisbawahi kondisi suram pasar pekerjaan negara,”

Pada awal bulan, Departemen Tenaga Kerja melaporkan bahwa daftar gaji bersih di seluruh negara menurun sebanyak 159,000 di bulan September, untuk kesembilan bulan berturut-turut ekonomi AS kehilangan pekerjaan. Rata-rata pengangguran tetap tak berubah dari bulan sebelumnya 6.1 persen.

Sebelas negara bagian melaporkan rata-rata pengangguran lebih tinggi daripada rata-rata nasional. Rhode Island ditempatkan tertinggi pada 8.8 persen, kenaikan dari 8.5 persen bulan Agustus. Michigan berada pada posisi kedua, 8.7 persen, jatuh dari 8.9 persen bulan sebelumnya.

Michigan kehilangan 28,300 pekerjaan pada September dan 77,900 pekerjaan tahun sebelumnya. Georgia kehilangan jumlah pekerjaan terbesar kedua sebanyak 22,300, turun 61,100 selama setahun belakangan. Obama Rebut Keunggulan 10 Poin Atas McCain

(Washington) – Kandidat capres Partai Demokrat Barack Obama telah memperluas kepemimpinan secara nasional atas capres Republik John McCain dalam pertarungan pilpres AS sebanyak 10 poin, menurut jajak pendapat yang dirilis Reuters/C-SPAN/Zogby, Rabu (22/10).

Obama mengungguli McCain 52- 42 persen diantara pemberi suara AS dalam polling pelacak selama tiga hari baru-baru ini, naik dari 8 poin keuntungan untuk Obama pada Selasa. Polling lewat telepon memiliki margin of error 2.9 poin persentase.

Itu merupakan ketiga kalinya berturut-turut Obama memperoleh kemajuan atas McCain saat kedua kandidat memulai percepatan terakhir menuju pilpres 4 November.

”Obama semakin melaju, dia telah memperpanjang keunggulan diantara hampir setiap kelompok pemungutan suara utama,” kata pengumpul suara John Zogby.
Keunggulan 10 poin merupakan keuntungan Obama pertama kalinya atas McCain, senator Arizona, yang mencapai digit ganda dalam pemberian suara.

Kepemimpinan Obama telah mengapung antara 2 dan 6 poin pada lebih dari dua minggu jajak pendapat sampai meregang menjadi 8 poin pada Selasa.

Obama mencapai perolehan dengan dua kunci utama blok pemungutan suara. Keuntungannya dengan pemberi suara independen berkembang pesat menjadi 27 poin dari 15 poin dan perolehan pemberi suara wanita tumbuh sampai 16 poin dari 13.

Obama, senator Illinois, memimpin diantara seluruh kelompok umur dan dalam setiap kelompok pendapatan kecuali pemberi suara paling kaya. Dia kini mempunyai dukungan 21per sen dari konservatif.

Sementara McCain hampir berhasil mengejar Obama dengan 2 poin persentase diantara pemilih pria dan kepemimpinannya antar warga kulit putih jatuh 6 poin dari 9 poin, 50 - 44 persen.

Jajak pendapat, diambil Minggu hingga Selasa, menunjukkan independen Ralph Nader, calon Partai Hijau Cynthia McKinney dan Libertarian Bob Barr masing-masing mendaftarkan 1 persen dukungan. Tiga per sen dari pemberi suara tetap ragu-ragu.

Hasil Lacak jajak pendapat mensurvei 1,208 pemberi suara dalam pemilihan presiden. Dalam polling pelacak, hasil terbaru ditambahkan sementara hasil lama dikesampingkan guna memantau perubahan momentum.

Presiden AS ditentukan oleh siapa yang memenangkan Electoral College, yang memiliki 538 anggota yang dibagi secara adil oleh populasi pada setiap negara bagian dan District of Columbia.

Government Honours the House Decision of BI’s Governor

(Jakarta, 13/3) – Vice President Jusuf Kalla said, Government still regarded Commission IX of the House of Representatives’ decision and wouldn’t interfere in the House’s internal regarding the rejection of Indonesian Bank Governor’s candidates which delivered by Government.

“Government obviously will honour duties and functions of the House. Government wouldn’t interfere in the House internal matters,” said Vice President Jusuf Kalla to reporters in Jakarta.

However, said He, with rejection derived from Commission IX of the House, government will then evaluated. “Obviously we need to evaluate and get the wisdom of it. We (government) still respect on each task and authority (the House),” Vice President said.

Nevertheless, Kalla explained Government would still hold on to rules of law. Vice President said Commission IX’s rejection was not final, the changes are available during plenary session. “Decision is made in plenary session, not commission, it means everything might happen (change),” he said.

According Vice President, if only the House plenary session decided to push aside both candidates, then Government would submit other applicants in two weeks.

However, Kalla hasn’t revealed possible candidates to be offered. He said it might have been that the applicants derived from BI internal. “All this time is proportional, whether internal or external. And it is (BI internal – red) not main condition,” Kalla said.

(Dakar) – The eleventh High Level Conference of Islamic Conference Organization (KTT OKI) will be opened Thursday morning around 10.00 AM of Dakar, Senegal’s time or Thursday afternoon of Indonesia’s, around 5.00 PM.

The opening session of OKI will be held officialy in Le Meridien Hotel-President, Dakar, Senegal, by Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, as the tenth KTT OKI’s chairman.

Indonesia and Iran Agreed to Build Oil Mill

“The matter of kerosene hasn’t finish why should make another policies. Push first the kerosene because that can economize 30-35 billion. This smart card only economizes 10 billion. If the kerosene conversion has already finished and the government still considers needs do economizations then use this smart card policy,” said the member of Democrat Party Faction when contacted by indonesianow.
