Claims Damage of Lapindo’s Victims Should Be Finished

(Jakarta) – The member of People Representative Council (DPR) Commission VII, Alvin Lie, asked government to pay off the entire claim damaged of Lapindo Mud victims until the last of May. “According the report to the DPR, The government has already paid 20 percent to the victims and the rest still in the following of payment process,” Alvin explained in the middle of DPR working meeting with Energy and Mineral Resource Minister (ESDM) in DPR building, Jakarta, Monday (18/2).

After everything pay off, Alvin continued, the problem is not stopping there. The Government also should think how the infrastructure movement in Sidoarjo is. “In there, there are Highway and train railway that was also hit by the impact of Mud outpouring,” Alvin said.

About the decision that the DPR Observer Team of Lapindo Mud Outpouring Impacts Management (P2LS) which the outpouring of Lapindo mud was a nature disaster, Alvin explained Commission VII will hold on to the Law Status that has already decided by the State Court of South Jakarta, also the result of Judicial review in Constitutional Court. “We will hold on to that decision, not on the opinion of A, B, or C. Whom was decided that it is nature disaster wasn’t us, but we hold on to the trial decision.”

On the same time, ESDM Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro refuses to give statement about those problems. “I don’t want to give many comments. Yes, we will just see in plenary tomorrow,” He said. (Jhon/teks.Nurseffi/trans.Devi)
