Indonesia Sign in The Extradition Agreement With China

(Jakarta) – Indonesian Government and China soon will sign the extradition agreement. One of the crime forms that fill into the agreement is corruption

“The process has already finished and we only wait the sign in. I have already invite by the middle of next month to sign in, but my time has not enable yet, so we will reschedule another time to sign in it,” said the International Affairs Minister, Hassan Wirajuda, in International Affairs Department, Jakarta, Tuesday (12/2)

According to the International Affairs Minister, The negotiation process of extradition agreement was short. “This process what makes this agreement into different with the Singapore extradition agreement. Only takes three times negotiation to finish it. This was political goodwill from both countries in increasing the cooperation in every sector including Law,” said International Affairs Minister

About the content of extradition agreement section, International Affairs Minister didn’t want to detail explain but he affirms the corruption crime was included inside. He was only explaining that all the extradition agreement content is as the same. “There is a standard, for example from The United Nation (PBB). Always include the crime list that the subject could get extradition also how the process is,” said International Affairs Minister.


Menawhile the public speaker of International Affairs Department Kristiarto Legowo also said that the extradition agreement with China has ready to sign in. About whom will to sign it, he said “According international law the International Affairs Minister who will sign it, but Law and Security Minister could also have fully mandate from International Minister,” Kristiarto answered.
