Soeharto’s Respiratory Ability Above 50 Percent

(Jakarta) – The condition of ailing former President Soeharto on the 13th day of his hospitalization at Pertamina Hospital (RSPP) has shown progress. The respiratory system reached above 50 percent, with the result of declining ventilator function.

As told Wednesday (16/1) by one of Presidential Medical Team, Christian at press conference in Pertamina Hospital, Jl. Kyai Maja, South Jakarta.

“Mr. Harto is strong enough to breathe at the moment, we start doing some separations. The Ventilator was being set so that he could breathe freely.” He said.

However, the Presidential Medical Team headed by dr Mardjo Subiandono said that Soeharto’s condition was still unstable and blood pressure stood at 110/30-40 MmHg.

“The function of the heart and lungs are not yet stable, there is still an accumulation of fluid in the lungs and there are signs of systemic infection,” he said.

Therefore, he explained, the team was continuing medication intensively and providing maximum intensive medical care also decided to stop allowing him to receive visitors. (Mimie,Dhita/Teks.Lala)
